In The Midst Of…

Joseph made ruler in Egypt

Genesis 37

3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.s4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

Not only did his Father favor him,but Joseph was a dreamer! Being a dreamer is a good thing,it keeps you focused. But being a bragger is a whole different thing,it’s like you’re always showing off and thinking you’re better than anyone else. Although this was not the type of person Joseph was, but as far as his brothers were concerned he was.

5 One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever. 6 “Listen to this dream,” he said. 7 “We were out in the field, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly my bundle stood up, and your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before mine!”

8 His brothers responded, “So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them.9 Soon Joseph had another dream, and again he told his brothers about it. “Listen, I have had another dream,” he said. “The sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed low before me!”

18 When Joseph’s brothers saw him coming, they recognized him in the distance. As he approached, they made plans to kill him. 19 “Here comes the dreamer!” they said. 20 “Come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns. We can tell our father, ‘A wild animal has eaten him.’ Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!”

21 But when Reuben heard of their scheme, he came to Joseph’s rescue. “Let’s not kill him,” he said. 22 “Why should we shed any blood? Let’s just throw him into this empty cistern here in the wilderness. Then he’ll die without our laying a hand on him.” Reuben was secretly planning to rescue Joseph and return him to his father.

Joseph was  sharing his dream and he was not ashamed or afraid, and you learn in reading farther that this sharing got Joseph in big trouble. But like Joseph when troubles come we must be steady in our service to God. Joseph believed in his God and his troubles only built his faith up in God,so will ours. Joseph’s end results was worth all he had been through, during the famine he saved his family and they were all united in love, and they did all bow down to him.

Genesis

41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.”

he was made the head man in charge and he didn’t misuse his authority ,but was humble and used by God greatly. So be encouraged by the Word of God whatever you’re going through God is also bringing you out Victoriously! Because he dearly loves you.

  1. Amen Pat, Amen. God loves us all so much, and god had the plan to help and save the older brothers through the blessed Joseph, so we must never be confused that one has more than the other, things may not seem the same, not fair, but the protection and nurturance is to be distributed equally. We must all hold each other up, and trust and have faith. And pay attention to our dreams !

  2. Amen Jennifer

    Love you 😀 😀

  3. Hi Pat,
Joseph was always very humble with the abilities the Lord gave him…. So much so that he humbly served others in the prison he was in…. He just always did his best to serve others whether he was in a high position or a lowly position…. That’s how we need to be in whatever position our Lord has placed us…
    Love, Margaret

  4. Thank you, Pat.

“Joseph was sharing his dream and he was not ashamed or afraid” … only the hand of God in His life could have given him the courage to go through, regardless.

May God grant us the courage to share our dreams, regardless.

    Blessings
    ann
