4 So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. 5 When we were controlled by our old nature,[b] sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. 6 But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.( Romans 7)

There are so many unsatisfied Christians and most of the time it’s because you’re still trying to live by the letter of the law, which brings bondage.Jesus has set us free from that because he knew we could not  keep the letter of the law. So this new way of living sets us free and that is living in the Spirit. By trusting God to bring about the changes we need in our lives, because we cannot do it alone. This new way of living is depending totally on Jesus Christ and the finished work he has done for us,through faith alone. The Saints before us could not do it either, that’s why God cut a new covenant through his awesome Son Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 8:6 But our High Priest has been given a ministry that is far superior to the ministry  of those who serve under the old laws, for he is the one who guarantees for us a better covenant with God,based on better promises. If the first covenant had been faultless, there would be no need for a second covenant to replace it.

Jesus has made a better way and as we yield to him our fruit will start to show up on the outside,so there is no need to struggle or faint trying to keep the law. Your High Priest in you takes up your slack and he will definitely bring about the changes in us,”Hallelujah”.God was aware of all that’s wrong with us when he chose us and he is more than able to help us now( Romans 8:29 )For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sister’s.

.Great is his faithfulness!

Love in Christ Pat

Patty Ann, yes, Hebrews 9 really does help us to understand our freedom in Christ…. It’s awesome to think of this new relationship with our Lord…. And, I also think of how the devil works harder than ever to fool us into tying ourselves up to the old laws again….. We should not be so foolish as to forget our freedom in Christ…. There we get to live in love…. Thank you for this good word.

Hello Margaret, that’s so true and the struggles are tearing at the hearts of God’s people so much until many are ready to give up,not knowing that Jesus has made us free. Thanks for your encouraging comment.

It is really amazing and awesome when you see the fruit of his spirit, and actually usually we don’t even see what he is doing through us. I was just thinking about this the other day. Thank you for writing about it so clearly. Jen
