But we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel.
Luke 24:21 – NIV
Have you ever had your hopes dashed I believe we all have, it’s mainly because I believe we’re expecting something Jesus has not promised. The disciples were much like us looking at Jesus for one thing while not fully understanding the whole purpose. Jesus did come to rescue them but not through physical means but through spiritual means. When we get our minds set on how this or that should work it’s hard to see our true purpose that’s why it’s so important to pray and stay in the Word of God because He will also take us through the scriptures and show us it’s true meaning.
He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”
Luke 24:25-26 – NIV
Dashed hopes can be cured through His word every time so that we’ll have the strength to keep following Jesus Hallelujah
I truly Thank Him for His patience and long suffering with us!
The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.
In this difficult situation Peter was sleeping 😴! How can we rest in difficult situations? We can rest that same way all we have to do is Hold On to the promises of God. This was not the first time Peter was in a difficult situation, and we to have been in many difficulties but God
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
1 John 5:14
And since we know that He hears us we should trust Him and rest God is faithful and He always makes a way out for us
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Usually we only quote and share Jeremiah 29:11 but I want to call your attention to Jeremiah 29:1~10 God is encouraging his people to settle down let your sons and daughters get married build your homes plant your gardens work for the peace and prosperity of the city, In other words get comfortable for you will be here for awhile! In the midst of our hard places we want out as soon as possible but God’s timing is so different from ours. God also told them to pray and so should we while waiting on God’s time to be fulfilled, it’s so hard to be still while waiting on God we feel we must be doing something but most of the time what we do is make a mess!
We also feel like God has forgotten us but that is never going to happen He loves us to much! For then comes the reassuring promise of Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Yes His plans for us are greater than what we’re going through right now so be still and let God do what He has planned the end results will be wonderful.
19 He was then almost one hundred years old; but his faith did not weaken when he thought of his body, which was already practically dead, or of the fact that Sarah could not have children.
God is so amazing! He can truly do anything without regard God is not limited at all even though our faith sometimes weakens. Wow it seems as though Abraham had fantastic and strong faith but we must look at what God brought him through before he got to this place of faith so that he was not moved looking back is good especially doing times of trials because it gives us insight we can also see what God has brought us through. Our faith does grow stronger as we move through the different trials God has prepared for us He knows how much we can bear! I get so excited thinking about the power and authority of God he has taken everything into consideration concerning us so be encouraged today wherever you are in your walk with the Lord knowing that he will never leave or forget you no matter what age you are nor does it matter what condition your body is in God can do great things for you and through you so stand strong and see the amazing things God has planned for you.
Jesus loved Lazarus just as He loves us! Can you imagine the restraint Jesus had to use when He got that message from Martha and Mary remember Jesus was flesh and blood like us.When He hears our prayers I believe He has to restrain Himself, because He’s all about doing His Father’s will.
For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will.
John 6:38 NLT
But if we wait on Him we’ll get the answer that’s best for our situation, His timing is so different from ours and we do have problems waiting.
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord . “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
Isaiah 55:8 NLT
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
LAM 3:22-23 ESV
God is great and nothing is to hard for Him! So hold on God will show up on time!
I can only imagine oh Lord that day in the garden when You went alone to pray.
I can only imagine the things that pressed You down and weighed so heavy upon You .
I know You could see us rejecting your Father ,I know You could see us lying and stealing and cheating treating others You love so much wrong.
I know You could see us hating each other as You toiled in prayer .I know You could see us as we all strayed .I know You could see the children being dragged away just as they started to play. I know You felt the pain as Mother’s cried again and again why,why did my child have to die.
I know You could hear the lies we often tell making promises we cannot keep.
I know You see us crying out for peace yet we fail to fall down at your feet.
I know You can see us being hated because of the color of our skin,we fail to see we’re all kin because from Adam and Eve we did come.
In the garden late that night all of these things pressed You inside and out! I know You could see the violence that’s going on in our world today, and then to our Father You had to say not my will but yours I will obey. They need me Dear Father ,they need me each day so for their sins this price I will pay.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,
I Peter 3:18 NKJV
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Well after finally going to sleep around 3:30 AM I’m up at 6:30 AM bathroom run(more like roll in my Mom’s old wheelchair) glad I kept it ! As soon as my foot hit the floor that pain shot through my body whoa it was bad! I made a mad dash for my crackers didn’t see them chips will do,whew I thank God I didn’t fall and for good medince! The word tells us
“We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,”
We never know what form these Hardships will take! Doing things Gods way is always best not easy, because after all Jesus had to go through Gethsemane to get to where God wanted Him (Matthew 26:36~46) So as I’m dealing with this terrible sciatica I’m learning even more about Gods faithfulness He is truly my very present help. The way God does things seem so strange to us because we love to figure things out,and surely we know that ant happening with God. Its only by faith that we learn to lean and depend on God in every situation for He has promised
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord . “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
So as we go through we have great help the promises of God for every test and trial,I am so grateful to God for His Son my great Saviour Jesus Christ ! As we go through these difficult situations and hardships they do make us strong so hang in there God is not finished with us yet, for when He is we shall come forth bright and shinning enabled to bear one anothers burdens . Thank You Lord !
Love in Christ Pat
