John 5:35

John was like a lamp, burning and shining , and you were  willing for awhile to enjoy his light.

Yes but how quickly the excitement can wear off especially when it comes to the truth about our Saviours teachings. John was the forerunner presenting Jesus to the people(Jews) and at first they were clamoring to hear John. Most were trying to figure him out, much like today when we witness to others ,they’re trying to figure us out.Trying to see if we stand up to what they think a Christian should be,and just what we should be doing. It’s quiet funny really, how can you figure out what a Christian should or shouldn’t do,when you’ve never been one. John keep right on preaching about Jesus and while he was teaching and preaching out in the wilderness it’s okay, but don’t bring your teachings any closer. Don’t come near the good town folks because they’re not having any of it,especially when it goes against all they’ve been taught down through the years. Even though the teachings are wrong and will not bring forgiveness or salvation the fight goes on. Just as soon as John started to run into man-made traditions,He had a real problem. Then the good town folk turned against Him and began to persecute Him. And if we think we will be treated any better we’re in for a real surprise, for Jesus said    Matthew 10:16

16 “Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves. 17 But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and will be flogged with whips in the synagogues. 18 You will stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell the rulers and other unbelievers about me.19 When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time. 20 For it is not you who will be speaking—it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

We have no idea yet how much we will suffer because we belong to Jesus, but He surely has given us many promises to hold onto while we’re going through. As we get into God’s word we learn of the many different trials and tribulations our ancestors went through victoriously and this  should give us hope and strengthen our faith.

Matthew 10:24 “No pupil is greater than his teacher;no slave is greater than his master,in other words if Jesus had to suffer what about us. Jesus humbled himself to please  His Heavenly Father and so must we. We are looking forward to great joys, stand strong, our God is more than able to keep us and help us through.

Love in Christ Pat

So true Pat. Persecutions are a part of the process Anytime you stand up for what you believe according to the Word of God you can expect it. Sometimes even from those closest to you We are able to endure because of the confidence we have in our God. The benefits far outweigh the discomfort of persecuttion. Benefits that are ours in this life Wait til I get blessed! Then the haters cerally come out! Great job!

We really truly don’t know … but you’re right. We hold onto the promises knowing that He keeps His word and that nothing takes Him by surprise.

Thanks for continuing to be a source of encouragement to us. May you be even as ‘a voice crying in the wilderness’ to those who are yet to hear the message of the Cross.

    Blessings much,

Hi Pat! I’ve missed you dearly!! I hope all is well with you. I was worried about you darlin’. I’ve been very busy with my youngest daughter but told her today that I had to find out if you were okay and came to visit. Loved you post, as always! Sorry I have been back sooner. Life is a little out of control right now but we are managing it with God’s help and the many prayers we have been blessed to receive on our behalf. Hugs and love, Teresa

Hi Pat! Hope you are doing well. The world full of darkness hates the light … it rejects it – it isn’t we who are being rejected but God. It’s sad when you come to realize the love God has for people and how much they want nothing to do with Him. The lies and deception abound. But may we continue to abide faithfully in the Word of Truth – that God’s light and love may flow through our lives. For it isn’t by our efforts, but Him working through us that can break through the darkness.

Dear Pat . . .there is something so sincere and real about your post, and He conveys to me a comfort from it. I know that probably sounds strange as we look at persecution, but I am comforted knowing that He is there and will be with me. Always.
